Many different studies have been done on the effects of exercise on sex. The general conclusion is that any amount of exercise increases the sexual drive of an athlete. However, athletes who train excessively experience a decreased sex drive. Men and women reacted in the same manner in these studies. The sex drive is increased by a new fitness, a new awareness of one's body and the stimulation of male and female hormones by exercise. The decrease in an athlete's sex drive comes only when the athlete completely exhausts him or herself. The hormonal stimulation may overload and the athlete's sex drive will suffer from the overwork.
