MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) Dozens of people's personal information has possibly been compromised.
Mobile attorney John Rivers was evicted from his office today and all his files were left on the side of the building near a very busy intersection for anyone to pick up.
"We get down here and we find these files sitting upright here,” said Shaun Jackson, one of Rivers’ clients.
Jackson was floored when he went looking for his attorney Monday night and found personal files of all his attorney's clients just laying on the ground.
With a pending court date Tuesday morning and his attorney apparently no where to be found, this is a situation Jackson says he doesn't feel good about.
"Last year we missed a court date because he wasn't here," says Jackson, "I've been dealing with Mr. Rivers for 10 years he would handle his business. I don't know what's going on."
Attorney John Rivers’ landlord had him evicted Monday after not getting rent from him since July.
“I thought that he would have been more dependable and a lot more true to his word than he has been," says Jackson.
Since Rivers wasn't around the sheriff's office had his office cleaned out and everything in there placed next to the building on the corner of Government and Broad Streets, an intersection filled with Mardi Gras parade revelers Monday night.
Anyone who walked by could have easily gained access to Rivers' files and documents.
Jackson says he doesn't know if anyone has rummaged through the files, but to make sure no one takes what's left, he took it upon himself to place them in a box and turn them over to police.
