(BAY MINETTE, Ala.) - A teen is behind bars in Baldwin County accused of holding a woman hostage for eight hours.
Police say 17-year-old Ruben Tejeda forcibly raped the woman at knife and at gun point. Police say Tejeda held the alleged victim in a shed on his mother's property around 7:00 pm Friday night. Tejeda is being held in the Baldwin County jail on a $750,000 bond. Tejeda is charged with kidnapping and rape.
"Any time in the state of Alabama if you restrain somebody with intent to commit a sexual assault or a sexual offense like that, it's considered kidnapping, " said Sgt. Ray Dixon with the Bay Minette Police Department.
Police say Tejeda terrorized his victim. She thought it was a date to the movies, instead police say he held her inside the shed against her will.
When police learned he was making plans to leave the state, the U.S. Marshals stepped in. Tejeda was arrested at his father's home in Robertsdale on Saturday.
