There are many ways to make hand puppets at home that are more creative than the traditional brown paper bag puppets. Children of all ages can enjoy these projects. However, toddlers who try these projects should have adult supervision. To make a CD (C-D) Daisy Puppet, you need a paper plate, an old CD, glue, large wiggle eyes, a two-inch pom-pom, a scrap of felt or construction paper, and an old green sock. Cut around the edge of the paper plate to make petal shapes. Glue the CD onto the center of the paper plate, then glue the pom-pom over the hole in the center of the CD. After that, glue on the wiggle eyes and use a scrap of felt or paper to make a mouth. Apply glue to the back of the flower. Gently press the foot part of the sock onto the glue. When dry, slip your hand into the sock and play with your puppet. To make cardboard roll puppets, you need toilet tissue or paper towel rolls, craft sticks, glue, scissors, construction paper, and craft supplies such as felt, moving eyes, and yarn. Decorate the cardboard toilet paper rolls to make different people or animals. Use the miscellaneous craft supplies to make hair, clothes, and mouths. Glue the craft sticks inside the bottom edge of the cardboard roll for a handle. To make an elephant puppet, you need a paper plate, gray paint, and a Popsicle stick. Decorate the paper plate to look like an elephant. Cut out a big circle where the nose would go. Glue or tape a Popsicle stick on the back side, along the bottom edge to control your puppet. Slip your arm through the hole to be the elephant’s trunk.
