Tonight’s UTV 44 High School Game of the Week presented by Whataburger traveled across the bay with a matchup between new region foes Enterprise Wildcats and Fairhope Pirates.

Wildcats head coach David Faulkner returned to Fairhope for his first region game of the 2012 season, now that Enterprise is now a Region 2 school.

Fairhope jumped out on top first to start the game.  The Pirates had the ball for just over half the 1st quarter as they drove their opening series 75 yards.  The drive was capped by a 22 yd field goal by Brandt Miller.

Fairhope’s defense then took the field and after letting the Wildcats drive for 36 the Pirates were able to stop a 4th down conversion and get the ball back on their own 10 yard line.  One play later the defense was back on the field after Pirates quarterback Gabe Phillips fumbled the ball on the 11 yard line.  The last play of the first quarter was Cade Stinnett kicked a 30 yard field goal.
The two were now tied at 3-3.

The second quarter saw both sides each stop a 4th down conversion, but Fairhope was able to make a big play.  Nate Andrews ran for an 85 yard touchdown with just under four minutes left in the half.  The Pirates were now up 10-3.

The half ended after the two teams traded turnovers.  Enterprise fumbled the ball on their 35 yard line.  The very next drive by the Pirates ended after Phillips threw an interception by Tre’Von McNeal.  After getting the ball back the Wildcats didn’t keep it very long, three plays later they lost a fumble on their 30 yard line.  The half ended with the Pirates leading 10-3.

The Wildcats were able to add two more touchdowns in the second half, as Lee Brascom had a 2 yard touchdown carry and Clark Quisenberry ran in an 8 yard touchdown.

Though, it was not enough to top the Pirates, as they also added two touchdowns in the second half.  Rushing Watson hauled in a 50 yard touchdown catch, and Nate Andrews caught a 14 yard touchdown.  Though the Pirates couldn’t relax until the game was over as the Wildcats took it down to the last seconds of the game.

The Pirates win two straight with the 24-17 victory over the Wildcats.

Enterprise falls to 1-1(0-1) and will return to the coast as they come back to take on Baldwin County.

Fairhope (2-0; 1-0) will host Dothan.

Join us on Friday as the UTV44 High School Game of the Week returns to the Eastern Shore for another 6A Region 2 matchup between Foley Lions and Daphne Trojans.
