The upper level trough that was sitting over our area & allowed the Canadian air to journey this far south...will have lifted out of the area by Monday. This means a warm up is on the way.
Temps on Monday will be back into the upper 60s as the winds turn back off of the Gulf of Mexico (a warm wind). The warmth will be taking place ahead of a cold front that'll bring showers to the area by Tuesday. In the wake of the cold front, temps will cool back down into the 50s for Wednesday. Then, temperatures will warm back into the 60s (and possibly low 70s) by the end of the week as an upper level ridge plants itself over our area.
It actually looks like an Omega blocking feature will set up over our area...with an upper ridge over the South/SE, and upper level lows over the Southwest & off the NE Coast. It's called an Omega block because the orientation of the high and the lows create the shape of the Greek letter Omega. Also, since the upper air pattern will not move for a while...that's why it's called an omega BLOCK. So if it pans out, we can expect warm dry weather for next weekend...stay tuned.
Stay Warm,
