A cold front has crossed the area, and much cooler air is going to filter into the Gulf Coast region. Saturday's highs will struggle to reach 60 degrees in a lot of places, but there will be plenty of sunshine to warm a cold heart. The chilliest weather will be felt Saturday night into Sunday morning as temps drop to freezing or below (into the mid-upper 20s near Highway 84). Therefore, a Freeze Watch is in place for our area. The more likely places to experience sub-freezing temps will be those inland areas away from the beaches (including Mobile). So, it's best to plan on bringing your sensitive plants inside on Saturday afternoon. Also, don't forget the other P's...the pets and people (check on the elderly to make sure they have proper working heat).
The cold snap will be short-lived as the winds will switch back out of south by Sunday afternoon...leading to warmer temps for Monday & Tuesday. As we start the new week, temps will rebound into the low 70s for afternoon highs. This warm-up will be out ahead of our next storm system that's going to bring rain to the Gulf Coast Monday evening...thru Tuesday.
We'll dry out & cool off a bit behind that system...then another chance for rain will return by the end of the workweek.
Enjoy the sun-filled, yet chilly weekend!
